About Us

We are a team of 5 Family Doctors who are passionate about providing Primary Care Obstetrics to our own patients as well as to patients of other Family Doctors in our community.

All of our Family Doctors are Canadian licensed physicians (MD, CCFP) with additional training and expertise in obstetrics. We have hospital privileges to provide both obstetrical and newborn care at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital. We are also a part of the Couchiching Family Health Team and the Couchiching Ontario Health Team. We are fortunate to work with a fantastic group of Labour and Delivery Nurses, Lactation Consultants, Social Workers, Dieticians, Anesthesiologists and when needed, our consultant Obstetric and Paediatric colleagues.

Grow your family with a family physician.

Family Physicians provide high -quality evidence based maternity care to pregnant women and their families. Over 11,000 babies are delivered by Family Physicians in Ontario every year.

What is Primary Care Obstetrics?

Primary Care Obstetrics is pregnancy care delivered by family doctors.  Family doctors offer care throughout your pregnancy and beyond including newborn care, breastfeeding support, general medicine and counselling.

Family doctors bring unique skills that combine medical and holistic approaches to maternity care. We view birth as a natural event and strive to support you by providing you with the information and guidance you need to make the best decisions for you and your baby.  We get to know you and your family over time so that we can provide care that you trust.

Who can attend pregnancy care here?

Most pregnancies can be managed effectively by family doctors. We care for healthy, low-risk pregnancies and also manage common problems that may come up (e.g., low thyroid, anemia, high blood pressure). If more significant complications develop during pregnancy or in labour, we work together with obstetricians or other consultants to get you the care you need. We continue to provide care alongside these colleagues for you and your baby.

Who will be my doctor?

You can pick any one of the doctors from our team for your prenatal care. You will attend one location and see the same doctor for all your prenatal visits. Our offices are all located in Orillia. When it comes time for delivery, your doctor will most likely be the one present for the big day. However, we also provide on-call coverage for each other when necessary.

Following delivery, we look after both you and your newborn in hospital and provide a 6 week postpartum visit in our office. This is an opportunity to debrief on your birth experience, follow up on any issues that arose in pregnancy, labour or delivery, snuggle your newborn and make a plan for any future pregnancy care.

How do I become a patient?

If you are pregnant, you can simply call one of our clinics and request to become a patient for pregnancy care.

If you already have a family doctor, you can ask them to send a referral to us by fax. We will look after you during your pregnancy and both you and your newborn in hospital. Once you are home from hospital, you and your baby will return to your usual family doctor for ongoing care.
